About the artist

Aaron Sorkin is an American screenwriter and playwright, born in Scarsdale, New York, and educated at Syracuse University with a degree in theater. He originally trained as an actor but found his calling in writing, breaking through in the theater world with the play A Few Good Men, later adapted into the acclaimed 1992 film starring Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholson, famous for the courtroom exchange «You can’t handle the truth!». The idea for the story came from his sister Deborah, a Navy JAG lawyer who worked on a related real case at Guantanamo Bay.

Sorkin went on to become one of the most distinctive voices in American film and television, known for rapid-fire, intelligent dialogue and morally complex characters navigating institutions of power. His work on The Social Network, depicting the founding of Facebook, produced some of his most quoted scenes, showcasing his signature walk-and-talk style and verbal sparring. He also created and wrote for television series exploring politics and media, and later moved into directing his own screenplays.

On Lyricser, Sorkin is represented not through songs but through memorable film dialogue excerpts, reflecting his reputation as a master of spoken-word writing whose scripts are studied and quoted as closely as song lyrics.
